Again a Fairy Tale

Fairies & Enchanters A New Book of Old English Fairy Tales, edited by Amabel Williams-Ellis. Illustrated with color plates and black and white by Wilma Hickson. Published by Thomas Nelson, NY in 1934. First Edition. Bookplate of Bertha Mahoney Miller 1882-1969 afixed opposite of the half title page.

(Since it is a memorial bookplate I have no idea if this copy came out of Miller's own library or the book is associated with her through Horn Book magazine.)

Snow Day!

It's a snowing enough to cancel all the outside visits, errands, chores, shopping etc.  Locked in with my books, my music, a nice fire in the stove and this view out the window....poor me :-)

Another Fairy Tale Book

...and a rather obscure one.  Fairy Tales From the Isle of Rugen, by Ernst Moritz Arndt, selected and translated by Anna Dabis. Published by David Nutt in 1896. Research shows it was the the only English translation of these tales. 

(I'm not sure yet what I'm going to do about pricing this, there is only one other copy listed on the net that is not a dreaded print on demand and this one has a rather intriguing gift inscription in German that I need to get translated.)

Fairy Tales

One the the Fairy Tale books that rescued me from my rut.  Norwegian Fairy Tales selected and illustrated by Gert Strindberg. Published by Roy Publishing, 1947. A nice tidy review copy with review slip laid in. An yes, that is a nice bright dust jacket with very minimal wear and a few closed edge tears.

hurrah for me

Just when things seem to be sliding from routine into rut, a friend walks in with a box of folk and fairy tale books from 19th and early 20th century and says "are any of these interesting?"  Research to be done! Images to follow!

ramble

Just read ARC (advanced reading copy) for Bujold's Cryoburn at www.baen.com. Will DEFINITELY be buying the book. (and yes I should have been working)

For the first time in 2 months all my inventory is unpacked & shelved in one place, it's just NOT the same place that I'm in. I have serious separation anxiety.
