Book show buys

I had some great conversations and bought some really cool stuff at the book show last weekend.

Bought a nice first edition in dust jacket of Margaret Wise Brown's first book. WHEN THE WIND BLEW. Harper & Bros 1937.

and from quite a few decades later:  Peter Spier's Caldecot award winner, NOAH'S ARK. Doubleday, 1977. First edition SIGNED and Inscribed by Spier with a quick sketch.

Baltimore Book and Antiques Show

Headed out to the Baltimore Book and Antique Show this weekend.  Quite a few years since I sold at the show and many years since I've even been able to attend. Really curious to see if there has been  big turn over in dealers, and how sales seem to be doing.

Dr. Seuss Advertising Secrets of the Deep

Any specialist dealer in business long enough will end up collecting ephemera items.  Most of the ephemera I have is promotional material related to certain authors or illustrators, usually focused on a specific publication.  Occasionally  I end up with something really coolio like this Dr. Seuss advertisement from 1935:

SECRETS OF THE DEEP or The Perfect Yachtsman by Old Captain Taylor.  Essomarine, 1935. Soft cover. Good+ condition. Essomarine (Standard Oil), 1935. 8vo, pictorial wraps, 34 pp.

This is currently the king of my ephemera , even with the foxing and the tiny edge chips...

Still here!

I was tempted to wait until winter rolled around again and just continue with complaining about the weather, but I'd be really sad if no one even noticed :-)

I've been having a very busy spring and summer, at this point we have 9,250+ images of our inventory posted and only 2,200 or so more to go!
